Restaurant Ghost

Share

Q:  I recently read an article about a restaurant that was haunted. There were reports of odd voices, doors opening and closing on their own, and a bathroom faucet that turns itself on. While in her office one day, the manager heard a loud thump from the kitchen. She investigated and found a large box of plastic wrap on the floor far from where it was placed. Could a former employee be causing these anomalies?

A: Could be. It could also be the ghost of a person who ate there and got food poisoning and is looking for a little harmless payback.

Q: A friend told me he heard a lecture from a historian claiming a group of Phoenicians actually sailed from what is now Lebanon to the United States approximately 500BC. Their cedar boat sailed across the Atlantic nearly 2000 years before the guy we celebrate, Christopher Columbus. Why is Christopher Columbus credited with discovering a place he accidentally bumped into when there were people on the beach to greet him and they had remnants of Viking tools on them?

A: I don’t know. In 1937 some powerful Colorado Italians got Columbus Day declared a statewide holiday. It’s rumored Cesar Chavez day is next.

Q: There is information about UFO sightings during World War II. Allied pilots flying over Germany by night reported seeing fast-moving round glowing objects following their aircraft. The objects were variously described as fiery, and glowing red, white, or orange. The objects were labeled foo-fighters. At first they were thought to be aircraft invented by the Germans. But then, German and Japanese pilots were also freaking out. No credible explanation has ever been given. What do you think?

A: Darn, I thought the Foo Fighters was the name of a rock band.

Q: I just read the neatest story. A Swedish woman has discovered her wedding ring on a carrot growing in her garden, 16 years after she lost it. Imagine the joy of discovering your lost wedding band, white-gold, set with seven small diamonds, in your garden, wrapped around a carrot. As someone who lost their ring, never to be found, I was elated to hear this news. Aren’t you elated to hear this news?

A: As someone who lost their ring forever–due to a bitter and nasty divorce–I can’t quite bring myself to elated. However, I am searching my neighbor’s garden every day in hopes of finding a good watch.
