BETTING NEWS: New Jersey’s grid-iron guessing camel died just weeks before the state is set to host its first Super Bowl. Princess was a fixture at the Popcorn Park Zoo for 10 years and gained fame for picking winners. Princess correctly’ picked the Baltimore Ravens last year. In the 2008 season, she picked 17 of 22 games correctly, including the Steelers super Bowl XLIII win. Due to her demise, Vegas odds makers are looking for a new pigskin picking pet.

HAUNTING NEWS: A couple put the house in northeastern Pennsylvania up for sale last month, they advertised it as “slightly haunted.” The listing attracted local and national media attention. Now the couple just needs an actual buyer for the four-bedroom home, on the market for $144,000. If it doesn’t sell, they might consider renting it out — by the night — to folks looking for spooky thrills. Local realtors believe the couple doesn’t stand a ghost of a chance of selling the home with an exorcism.

DON’T MESS WITH TEXAS NEWS: In Houston, Texas, while on the phone making a business call in a parking lot, a homeless man approached the stranger and asked for some spare change. The man gave him 75 cents and then drove off. Minutes after leaving the lot in his car, police pulled the man over. He was handcuffed in the back of a patrol car for an hour while nearly a dozen cops searched his car for drugs – the likes of which he allegedly gave the homeless man. After tearing through his car, and finding nothing, he was released. And this wasn’t even at the panhandle area of the state.

FAT FOOD NEWS: A report from Reuters in Shanghai shows China has held seven people in southern Guangdong province for injecting dirty pond water into lamb meat to swell its weight and raise its price. And, Wal-Mart Stores Inc, the world’s largest retailer, apologized after a Chinese supplier of donkey meat snacks was found to have mixed fox meat into the product. Who in the world would be eating donkey meat snacks anyway?
